Tips to Overcome Anxiety

Anxiety disorder is a mental condition that causes the person with it to feel a sense of nervousness and distress even if there is no reason to feel that way. Those with this condition may look for ways to lessen their symptoms. One of the top ways to come down from an anxiety attack is to breathe. That may not sound hard for most, but for people with anxiety, that may be hard to do during an attack. The primary way to breathe during one is by taking deep breaths through the nose and out through the mouth. They should also try to maintain a steady pace while doing this style of breathing.

When feeling extremely anxious, one should keep themselves busy. Worrying about something will not make it go away. Find something that puts you in your happy place. Some ideas include reading, playing a game, talking with friends, or watching your favorite show. If you keep yourself busy with something, it should keep what is triggering the anxiety to go away.

Find things that bring you comfort, whether that be a stuffed animal, blanket, or person. Even turning on a movie that makes you feel good and brings comfort is a good idea. It does not matter how many times you have watched it. The best thing to remember is that it is all about you and making you feel better.

Keep a positive mindset to the best of your ability. When talking to yourself in your head, be nice to yourself. You deserve it. Speaking positively to yourself will take away some of that stress and make you feel better about yourself. Keep positive thoughts as well. Thinking negatively is not going to help one bit when you are already down. Avoid negative things in general, whether that be people or the news. You need to stay focus on what makes you happy.
